Hey, you. It's pretty late on a Thursday. Yet here you are, reading Gizmodo. Thanks for that. Just wanted to let you know that we'll be dropping some news pretty late tonight. About 1:30 AM, California time. I can't tell you more, but it's some cool stuff. I'd say a 8.4 on the Giz-Richter scale. So, if you're going to be up late anyhow, watching some Galactica reruns, come on by. If you can't wait up that late, don't you worry. The post will still be here in the AM. Either way, see ya soon.

Samsung to produce 80nm 1Gbit DDR2 RAM

Samsung to produce 80nm 1Gbit DDR2 RAM

Remember the good old days when you looked down upon the rest of the 80486 crowd with your Pentium 60MHz and 8MB of RAM? Such a beast of a machine could run Doom in full screen glory at puke-inducing framerates. Memory prices and quantity have come a long way from then, with 512MB of RAM being found on base systems these days. Samsung's move to mass produce 80nm 1Gbit DDR2 memory modules comes across as great news as it will reduce the overall costs for 2GB and 4GB DDR2 modules which bodes well for the upcoming release of Windows Vista.

Gamer Jonathan Wendel, better known as Fatal1ty, is often associated with excellence in his gaming performances and line of gaming peripherals which range from mice to motherboards. Creative decided to go the way of Asus by riding on Fatal1ty's handle to bring you the Fatal1ty Professional Series Laser Gaming Mouse. This new mouse boasts innovative features like interchangeable weight cartridges (available in weight packs of 3.5g, 11g, 15g, 19g, and 26g) and a HD-Laser engine that is rated in CPI, with no reference to DPI whatsoever. The Fatal1ty Professional Series Laser Gaming Mouse is capable of 400 CPI, 800 CPI and 2400 CPI. It looks rather weird and allows you to place all 5 fingers on the mouse top for superior accuracy and control.

Philips drops another cordless Skype phone

While it's not quite as exciting as those computer-free and base station-free WiFi Skype phones that have been cropping up of late, Philips' new VoIP841 phone at least can do its thing without a computer -- and does it in style. The new phone bests its VoIP321 predecessor with a color screen and a whole lot more sexy. Of course, we expect this phone to trump the former on price as well, so you'll have to ask yourself if those pretty little notification icons are really worth the extra green. All you need to make calls with the VoIP841 is a broadband connection to hook the base into, after that the DECT protocol takes over and you can roam your house in freedom, with cute little Skype graphics to keep you company. The phone should be available for the 2006 holiday season.

Miuro rolls into market

Miuro rolls into market

Here's an iPod dock that looks extremely different from the standard issue types which roll out on a daily basis. The Miuro takes the form factor of a ball and will be able to move around on its "wheels", keeping your iPod safely docked in the middle. There is no mention of the Miuro's compatibility with different iPods in the market, but hard drive-based iPods ought to be able to take all the rolling around without suffering from any data damage. The Miuro boasts a pair of Kenwood speakers and is also capable of playing music stored on a nearby computer via a wireless connection. It will be released worldwide in the second half of next year for approximately $930. There's a remote control thrown into the package that ensures the Miuro won't follow your Sony Aibo out for a walk without your express permission.
